Emmeline Chugg

Emmeline Chugg is a 21 year old ballet dancer and passionate performer with extensive training in Classical Ballet as well as many Contemporary dance styles. A 2022 graduate of the Vimy Ridge Academy Dance Program in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; she has trained methodically and artistically in Classical Ballet while being presented with much performance experience and preparation for Vocational Ballet examinations in both Cecchetti and Royal Academy of Dance with Distinction results. Emmeline Chugg has attended numerous Summer Intensive programs at both the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School Profession Division and the Alberta Ballet School Professional Division with invitations from both to continue training.

Emmeline has received numerous invitations to study at professional programs and was previously awarded a full tuition scholarship to attend Alberta Ballet School. She appeared in the Alberta Ballet Nutcracker (Edmonton children’s cast) for three seasons. As well, she has performed with The Edmonton Symphony Orchestra as Gretel; in Hansel and Gretel. She also trained in the pre-professional company Edmonton Festival Ballet until graduation. Emmeline was selected for scholarships to attend the Goh Ballet School Summer program, 5 years in a row. After Graduation, Emmeline was offered spots in the Victoria Academy of Ballet Post Secondary program, Coastal City Ballet as an Apprentice, and the Goh Youth Ballet Company.

For the past two years, Emmeline has been training intensely in the Aspirant Program with Ballet Victoria Conservatory; shadowing the Ballet Victoria company and learning their repertoire. Throughout her post secondary dance training there; Emmeline has cultivated a diverse range of performances with the Ballet Victoria professional company. From Classical Ballets such as Nutcracker and Swan Lake to newer Classical works such as Frankenstein; these professional-calibre performances have elevated her technical dynamics and solidified her passion for performance.

Offstage, Emmeline hopes to also share her love for ballet through teaching and mentoring younger dancers, inspiring the next generation of performers. Emmeline’s own experiences and resiliency through her own Scoliosis journey makes her a inspirational, nurturing and understanding mentor. Currently, Emmeline works at Stretch Dancewear, in Victoria, being trained and mentored as a pointe shoe fitter by a former fitter with the National Ballet of Canada. Recently, Emmeline appeared as a special ability actor in the feature film; Sidelined-The QB and Me (Tubi Originals).

Emmeline was the recipient of the Alberta Foundation of the Arts Individual Dance grant in both 2022, and 2024, a competitive grant for Post Secondary study. In June 2025, Emmeline will graduate from the Ballet Victoria Conservatory Aspirant program.
